Success Story - Project Skyranger 30

Client
Rheinmetall Air Defence
Type
Race Way Bearing

Overview

The changed conditions in the area of operations require a so-called close and short-range protection system to defend against drones and protect troop movements. Such a system must combine high forces with maximum precision.

Development

IBO is involved in the development of all the tower's bearing points. Our expertise in the area of lateral rotary and swivel axes solved the requirements for the mountability and localization of the drive gearing. The time pressure, which did not allow for typical project phases, should be emphasized. Nevertheless, IBO was able to implement all requirements in a solution using its own knowledge of the overall application.

Result

The first prototype has been tested, no improvements to the product were necessary and the pre-series stage has been reached.

Aviation

Contemporary travel means experiencing internet reception at 16 km above sea level. This system requires extremely precise azimuth and elevation positioning. The special feature is the combination of installation space and weight restrictions with special environmental requirements during take-off, flight and landing.

Defense

One component of the Main Sensory Slaved Armament (MSSA) is the stabilized electronic optical sensor system (SEOS). The associated bearings are characterized by high rigidity and accuracy between clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. Because at a firing range of several kilometers, every thousandth of a degree of deviation is crucial.
